Thailand Winter Charters 2026/2027: Impact on Pattaya Rentals
Tour operators are not skimping on winter this year: charter routes to Thailand now reach 20 Russian cities, from Moscow to Chita. Barnaul and Novokuznetsk got direct flights for the first time, and Irkutsk now sees two Bangkok flights a day. For the Pattaya rental market, this is less an aviation story than a forecast: the 2026/2027 season is shaping up to be crowded, and landlords should start planning for it now.
Which cities gained direct flights, and which lost them
Major Russian tour operators, including FUN&SUN, PEGAS Touristik and Coral Travel, have already opened sales for winter 2026/2027 package tours. Flight programs to Phuket, Pattaya and Bangkok are rolling out in waves from September through November and will run until May 2027.
The route map has shifted noticeably toward Siberia and the Urals. Barnaul and Novokuznetsk received direct charters to Thai resorts for the first time, sparing residents the overland trip to Novosibirsk. Irkutsk joined the program too, with flights to Bangkok now running twice a day and to Phuket daily.
Not every city benefited. Sochi dropped out of the Phuket charter lineup, while Novosibirsk and Vladivostok lost direct flights to Pattaya, partially replaced by S7 Airlines scheduled block seats.
Baggage and prices: where travelers can lose money
On AZUR air charters, free baggage allowance is capped at 10 kg checked and 5 kg carry-on, tight for travelers who typically bring fruit, latex pillows and cosmetics back from Thailand. Excess baggage fees paid at the airport can wipe out the savings from a cheap package. S7 scheduled block flights from Irkutsk and Vladivostok offer better terms: up to 23 kg checked, 10 kg carry-on, plus frequent flyer miles.
Package prices are holding at levels similar to past seasons:
a week in Phuket in November, 4-star hotel, from 107,000 rubles per person;
the five-star Pullman in Karon, from 142,200 rubles;
12 nights in Pattaya flying from Yekaterinburg, 4-star Asia Pattaya hotel, from 209,000 rubles for two.
For residents of cities like Barnaul, Novokuznetsk, Kemerovo or Omsk, booking a trip independently is now nearly impossible: tour operators have bought up most of the seats, and a ready-made package with transfers and insurance costs 10 to 30 percent less than booking flights and hotels separately.
What rising tourist numbers mean for renting in Pattaya
The expanding charter network doubles as a forecast of tourist flow for the coming winter, and that flow feeds directly into high-season housing demand. If flight programs from 20 cities fill even halfway, the 2026/2027 high season could be one of the busiest in recent years, a trend that lines up with broader patterns in tourist arrivals to Thailand.
For apartment owners, that is a reason to review rental rates now rather than mid-season, once competitors have already absorbed part of the demand. Worth keeping the legal picture straight too: buying an apartment in Pattaya does not come with a visa or residency, and foreigners cannot own land in Thailand.
