Mueang Phuket is the island's southern and eastern district (amphoe): 8 tambons, covering the Kata, Karon, Nai Harn and Rawai beaches, Chalong, Cape Panwa, Koh Kaew and Phuket Town itself.
Rawai and Nai Harn
South of the island: swim at Nai Harn and Ya Nui, boats and a fish market in Rawai. 20 minutes to town, about an hour to the airport
Officially this is Tambon Rawai in Amphoe Mueang Phuket. It covers Rawai, Nai Harn, Ya Nui and Chalong Pier.
Rawai Beach is the place for boats and the fish market, while people swim at Nai Harn and Ya Nui. Nai Harn Lake and Promthep Cape are close by.
Condos here cost around 130,000 baht per m² according to Thaiger, and new developments 110,000-160,000 baht according to agencies: cheaper than the west of the island.
Developers offer payment plans: at Dominion Rawai you pay 50% before completion, with developer financing for up to 10 years after completion at 1-2.5% a year; The ONE Nai Harn offers a 2-year payment plan.
The airport is 47-48 km away, about an hour's drive; town is 16-17 km away, 21-24 minutes without traffic.

Kata and Karon
South-west beaches: long Karon, Kata and Kata Noi. The Big Buddha on the hill, 20 minutes to town
Officially, Kata is part of Karon tambon in Mueang Phuket amphoe, but people search for these areas separately.
Karon is a long beach, and condos here cost around 144,000 baht per m², according to Thaiger. The Kuartz is located here.
In Kata and Kata Noi, new developments cost 150,000-210,000 baht per m², according to agency data. This is where you will find Fizz, The Katabello and the Panorama Kata villas.
On 23 August 2024, a landslide near Nakkerd Hill and the Big Buddha killed 13 people. The role of construction on the hill is disputed: in June 2025 the police dropped the charges against it. We assess hillside plots by their documents and elevation.

Officially, this is Chalong subdistrict (tambon) in Mueang Phuket district. Wat Chalong temple and Chalong Hospital are here.
There is no swimming beach. The pier on Chalong Bay officially lies in the neighbouring subdistrict of Rawai.
The area has many private houses. In heavy downpours, Chao Fa East and West roads flood.
Phuket Town is 9 km away, about 12 minutes by road. The airport is 38 km away, about 45 minutes without traffic.
